How to clean and care for your contact lenses?

When we are wearing contact lenses, we are responsible to clean and care for them, which in most cases only takes up to a few minutes.It is important to do so because protein in your tear film builds up over time on your contact lenses which creates a thin film and may cause irritation.

Wash your hands and make sure they are clean and dry to avoid infection.

Make it a habit to start and end with the same eye, so that you won’t mix them up.

Always clean your contact lenses immediately after you remove them.

If you wear daily disposable lenses, throw them away after removal.

Never use tap water to clean your contact lenses or contact lens case. Refer to the solution’s instruction for more information.

Mark the date on the lens packet when you open a new box of contact lenses to stay on schedule.

How to clean your contact lenses?

➊ Fill up each chamber of the contact lens case with fresh contact lens disinfecting solution.

➋ Remove the contact lens from its packaging and place it into your clean, dry palms and apply a few drops of your contact lens disinfecting solution.

➌ You may use one finger or mini tools to gently rub the lens back and forth on your palm to clean the lens surfaces. Then, rinse your lenses thoroughly with more of the solution.

➍ Then, put it into your clean contact lens case and repeat this routine for your other lens, close the case and leave your lenses to soak overnight.

It is also important to take care of your contact lens case’s cleanliness. 

➊ Use a clean tissue to wipe away the dirty, old solution left in the case.

➋ Rinse it with fresh contact lens solution and use another piece of clean tissue to clean the inner parts of the case.

➌ After that, place the contact lens container upside down on a clean tissue to air-dry.

➍ Replace your contact lens case on a regular basis, every 3 months.
